Lovehoney & Tesco: A Consolidation Success Story

Getting new products on supermarket shelves is tough. Grocers are cutting down on suppliers, making it hard for even big brands to get a buyer’s attention. And even if they do, there’s another challenge: buyers are under pressure to reduce their supplier lists, so adding new ones isn’t always easy, especially when time is short.

 

The Challenge: Tesco’s Tight Deadline

Tesco wanted to stock the Lovehoney range, but there was a problem. They couldn’t get Lovehoney set up as a supplier in time for their important range review. Time was running out, and LoveHoney’s new listing was at risk.

That’s where Robinson Young (RY) stepped in. We offered a solution: consolidated supply. We added the Lovehoney products to Tesco’s systems using our own supplier account and handled the distribution through Tesco’s backhaul system.

The Results:

What started as a temporary fix has turned into a four-year partnership. Our initial advice helped Lovehoney avoid a potentially costly mistake from the start. Plus, our understanding of the customer has helped them develop better packaging, and our contacts have helped them open new accounts.
